Visit to visit blood pressure variability and cognitive dysfunction validation in NACC dataset Lead Investigator: Noam Epstein Institution : Pfizer E-Mail : nue2you@gmail.com Proposal ID : 367 Proposal Description: Visit to visit blood pressure variability is an emerging potentially modifiable risk factor for death (Muntner et al., 2011), cardiovascular disease (Rothwell et al., 2010) and cognitive dysfunction. Recently we have published a report (Epstein NU et al., 2013) based on the ADNI data, which has some overlap with the NACC data set, showing a clinically significant association between visit to visit blood pressure variability and cognitive dysfunction after adjusting for covariates and baseline cognitive function. Given our prior research on the ADNI cohort (Epstein, Xie, Ruland, Pandey, Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging, 2012) the association between visit to visit blood pressure variability and cognitive dysfunction may even be present among patients not at high risk of cardiovascular events. This study aims to validate this finding the with the complete NACC data set.
